OUR RAW COTTON
The fabric used for each and every T01 is made from raw cotton grown on the Keytah Cotton Farm in North Western N.S.W. This cotton farm is the first Good Earth Cotton® farm in the world.
Good Earth Cotton® is a climate positive cotton that is grown under a set of modern regenerative farming practices - proven to enhance the positive environmental impact of cotton production, improving the soil's ability to sequester carbon. This cotton farm sequesters more carbon than it emits, making the cotton harvested entirely carbon positive.
PUTTING THIS INTO PERSPECTIVE
The global textile industry is responsible for generating 8-10% of the world’s carbon emissions, and it’s reported that 25% of the world’s textile fibre is cotton. You can imagine how cotton production has an immense influence on the health of our planet, and the Keytah Cotton Farm is leading the way for positive cotton production.
HOW IT’S DONE
Advanced agronomics
Low water use
Zero to minimum tillage
Organically composted waste
Solar and renewable energy
HOW IT’S MONITORED
Good Earth Cotton® is traceable by FibreTrace®.
FibreTrace® is a transparency technology, that allows for complete traceability and transparency within global textile supply chains.
At the cotton’s origin, a luminescent pigment is blended with the fibre. From this point, a garment made with this cotton can be scanned at any point of its lifecycle. A scanner will then reveal data (which is stored on Blockchain) and measure the environmental impact of the garment, specifically measuring the carbon, energy, and water impact at the raw fibre source.
Positive production is the backbone of OZ RAG®, and a science backed approach to producing our raw materials, combined with local manufacturing is our way to produce clothing in the manner in which we want to.
